Assistant Manager
Melrose Café & Bar is looking for qualified people to join our Management team as an Assistant Manager. We are an award winning establishment winning in the Best Bar/Pub category in WHERE Magazine’s Most Memorable Meal Awards here in Calgary, Alberta. We became known throughout North America as the Heart of the Red Mile during the Calgary Flames amazing playoff run of 2004. We would like to add great people to join our establishment who will contribute to the continued success of Melrose Café & Bar.
Duties will include:
· Scheduling staff to meet volume needs
· Maintaining acceptable food and liquor costs as per organization’s guidelines
· Managing all staff to ensure the organizations standards are met
· Constant development of swing managers
· Maintaining a high standard in regards to Quality, Service, and Cleanliness
· Ensuring a sense of urgency in completion of all tasks
· Promoting a safe, sanitized working environment
· Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
· Opening, closing and side duties as per organization’s guidelines
· Monitoring and ensuring the highest level of food safety
· Consistently following and adhering to AGLC rules and regulations
· Ability to make quick decisions and execution of those decisions
Requirements:
· Have 4 years hospitality experience, preferably in a high volume setting
· 2 years in an assistant manager/supervisory role
· Be customer service orientated
· Be highly motivated and passionate about creating a memorable experience to our guests
· Have a strong will to succeed and take pride in maintaining the highest levels of Quality, Service and Cleanliness
· Be available to work mornings, afternoons and nights both weekdays and weekends

Melrose Cafe & Bar is looking for a experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. Duties and Responsibilities:
· Running the kitchen while maintaining operational standards and best practices as well as food safety.
· Coaching staff on a daily basis.
· Assisting in the planning and execution of functions
· Accountability for supporting standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, grooming, organization, production, food quality, and consistency.
· Ensuring a high level of cleanliness and repair of kitchen by supervising kitchen cleaning schedules and overseeing equipment maintenance.
· Managing daily labour costs in the kitchen.
· Accurately conducting food inventory on a weekly basis.
· Assisting the Executive Chef with maintaining appropriate food cost.
· Promoting a safe working environment and complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
· Performing opening, closing and side duties as per the Melrose Cafe & Bar guidelines.
· Other duties as assigned by senior management.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
· Minimum of 4 years in a high volume setting.
· 3 years experience as a Sous Chef/Kitchen Supervisor role
· Red Seal Certificate or working towards
· Effective communication both written and orally.
· The ability to work independently and take initiative.
· Experience training all kitchen positions is an asset.
· Being able to work effectively in an environment that embraces team work.
· Punctuality.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Possess a strong will to succeed.
· Are self motivated and strive to constantly achieve the highest levels of quality, service, cleanliness, safety while being conscious of food cost.
· The ability to handle a flexible schedule is preferred.
